Paul Toensing
Founder & CEO, Custom GPT Solutions
Paul Toensing has spent three decades in aviation: as a Naval Aviator, a freight and airline pilot across three continents, and a university lecturer. Custom GPT Solutions is where those threads meet. It’s the study tool he wishes he’d had, built by someone who carried the same document load his customers do.
Military & Aviation Experience:
A carrier-qualified Naval Aviator, Paul flew and instructed, training other Navy pilots in advanced flight techniques. The foundation was academic first: a degree in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics from the University of Minnesota.
Commercial Aviation Career:
After the Navy, Paul’s flying spanned nearly every corner of the industry:
- International freight operations
- Medical transport
- Corporate aviation
- Global passenger services
Along the way he flew thoroughbred racehorses across North America. His career took him well beyond it too, into extensive operations through the Middle East and Asia, culminating in an airline position with Hong Kong Airlines.
Academic Leadership:
When the pandemic reshaped the industry in 2020, Paul moved into academia as a lecturer at the University of Hong Kong. Teaching English for Science and Technology, he pioneered the integration of critical thinking skills into the course, helping technically expert students communicate precisely and reason under pressure.
Current Focus:
As founder of Custom GPT Solutions, Mr. Toensing leverages his comprehensive background in technical operations, education, and global business to develop AI-powered study and reference tools for professional aviation. His approach combines technical expertise with practical application, ensuring solutions that are both innovative and implementable.
